The two met while working at a family-run bakery, where Forrest held a supervisory role over Amos. Their relationship reportedly began while Forrest was still married to his second wife, leading to his departure from their marital home in Canterbury and the initiation of divorce proceedings. Forrest gained notoriety in 2012 when, at the age of 30, he abducted a 15-year-old pupil, triggering an international manhunt. He was arrested in France and subsequently sentenced to five and a half years in prison for child abduction and sexual activity with a minor. Upon his release, Forrest trained as a baker and remarried, but his past continued to affect his employment, leading to his dismissal from a bakery in 2023 after his criminal history was uncovered.
